Blog Review

Check out a wonderful Christ-centered Movie Review Blog!  This is a Godly young man my family has known for years.  He reviews movies in a way to let you know if it is worthwhile, and if it has older, mature content.  Here is part of the description he put in his "About".

WHAT’S IN THE NAME?
Reel Quick is intended to be a place where you can find quick, comprehensive movie reviews from a Christian perspective. My purpose is not to write an in-depth analysis of a film, but rather to give the reader a brief, but informative, overview.

WHY?
Those who know me know I love movies. I enjoy watching them, critiquing them, and talking about them. I had originally intended Reel Quick to be only a personal journal, a place where I could record my thoughts about the films I watched. But as I thought more about it, I realized that there might be others who could benefit from the site as well…

Truth be told, the vast majority of secular movie sites provide inadequate – if not downright misleading – reviews. For example, have you ever sat down to watch something that was labeled “family friendly”, and then found to your dismay that it was everything but? My family has. And it’s aggravating in the extreme. My hope is that Reel Quick will be of benefit to those who have the same frustration, and find themselves in search of quality, conservative reviews.

Go check it out and support him!  We need to have more movie review places that you can trust.  :)  Don't you just love his blog name?  I thought he was quite ingenious with it.

This is a movie that unfortunately, we either missed or it isn't coming to our theatres.  :(  Go look at their website (here) and buy a copy!  I know it will be good.  Plus it is a good idea to support these movie producers who are trying to reach out. 



Synopsis
Everything can change in an instant ... and take a lifetime to unravel.
When Mac McDonald loses his son in an accident, the ensuing 17 years of bitterness and pain erodes his love for his family and leaves him angry with God ... and just about everyone else.
Mac's rage stonewalls his career in the police department and makes for a combustible situation when he's partnered with Sam Wright, a rising star on the force who happens to be a part-time pastor and a loving family man.
Mac's home life is as frightening as anything he encounters on the streets of Memphis. Money is tight and emotions run high as he constantly argues with his wife and his surviving son Blake, who is hanging with the wrong crowd and in danger of flunking out of school.
Sam Wright also never expected to be a police officer. He has a calling—to be a minister like his Grandpa George. But leading a small, start-up church doesn't always put enough food on the table for a young family, so Sam doubles as a police officer. With his new promotion to Sergeant, Sam starts questioning if his real calling might actually be police work rather than the pastorate.
Can Mac and Sam somehow join forces to help one another when it's impossible for either of them to look past their differences—especially the most obvious one?

The above scripture was the starting line to one of the best movies I have seen in a while.

Josh, Mom and I went to it the other night.  I think it is on my list of favorites.  It is about Secretariat, one of the greatest race horses of all times.  There is yet a horse to beat his record. 

He was a champion of champions.

   

 It was one that just touches the right chord in your heart and makes you want to sob for the sheer joy of watching this animal run.  The director did an excellent job of letting the movie grow, and letting the emotions of the moment rule.  It was beautiful.   

If you haven’t gone and watched it at the theatre, it is worth the $20 to go and buy it.  Yes, it was that good. 

It was very clean.  One place where there is a bit of rude humor, although not bad. 

One of the things I took away from the movie was that God created this wonderful animal that was a one-of-a-kind animal.  But it still needed an owner who was willing to persevere and still continue on through rough spots, and who would believe in Big Red and be beside him to get him to where he needed to be to “show off God”.   The animal in itself was amazing, but it needed a human to get it to the races.  To train him, feed him, take care of him when he was sick.  

It was excellent!  Absolutely beautiful!  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Anyway, go see it.  :grin:
